Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Carbon dioxide is a gas also present in the earth’s atmosphere in a concentration of about 0.04%, an important concentration in maintaining the balance of the biosphere.

In high concentrations it has a slightly pungent, acidic taste and can affect breathing. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air and can accumulate in basements or at the bottom of rooms.

It is soluble in water and liquefies easily at low pressures.
